A payment source is something where funds can be requested / drawn from to for allocation towards a payable. It is a deliberate abstraction of different concrete payment schemes like Autogiro, AvtaleGiro, SEPA Direct Debit, etc.

Payment sources can be used to authorize withdrawal of funds from an underlying account, in these cases an underlying mandate will exist, the structure of these will vary by the requirements of the underlying scheme.
